Upcoming Release
Jens Gustavsons coming record “Vissa dagar” (certain days) will be released digitally october 15th 2025.
For nearly 30 years, the Swedish singer/songwriter Jens Gustavson has composed, recorded and released his own music on CD, vinyl and digitally.
With various bands, or solo, he has performed at numerous parties, pubs, events, and festivals in Sweden over the years. For example, Storsjöyran, Urkult, and Svarttorpsfestivalen. His previous band Andras Ungar were often praised for their rowdy and sweaty performances.
Musically, Jens belongs to the alternative scene. Live, there is always a delicat tension and sensitivity mixed with intense drive and distorted guitars. He draws inspiration from widely different genres and sources. Even though text-based singer/songwriting always forms the foundation of his music-making, he is open, boundary-crossing, and curious about everything from Swedish ballads and folk music to blues, punk and stoner rock.
Among his foremost inspirations are Ossler, Anders F. Rönnblom, PJ Harvey, Mike Scott and Mark Lanegan, but the broad musical scope of his work cannot be easily pinned down.
Reviews from the previous album
The Big Takeover write about the album “Illusionisten” 2023
It’s a beguiling and often brilliant album that merges the alternative sonic worlds of the likes of P J Harvey, and Kurt Weill with more accessible rock moves.
Alt-alt-rock? Yes, I reckon so.
Blog Alt77 write about the song “Söndag 14° dis” from the album “Illusionisten” 2023
Jens Gustavson has taken on Nick Cave as a teacher, but has pushed the boat further up into the stream than their musical predecessor would’ve allowed it to go.
B-side guys write about the song “Film” from the album “Illusionisten” 2023
Jens Gustavson’s “Film” emerges as a hauntingly beautiful and introspective track that delves deep into the realms of nostalgia and the irrevocable passage of time.
Current
Vissa dagar (Unsigned, digital release)
The new album Vissa dagar has a more distinctly acoustic soundscape than previous works. A bit more rootsy, a bit more stripped down. Here we travel through a musical landscape that moves close to New Orleans-scented roots blues, folk, country, the European song tradition, and acoustic indie.
Mostly recorded live in Studio Rissna City, Jämtland Sweden.
Mixed, produced and mastered by Robin Lindqvist.
